Why do we need a new Devon organization?

Most men as they travel down life’s many paths, stumble over the truth, but they quickly regain their balance and never even realize they had an encounter with reality.

Why do we need a new Devon organization? NADA was formed to meet a need and a demand. The demand is from consumers seeking a quality beef product that is part of a healthy diet and is produced in a manner that is life- supporting not life-altering. The need is for the proper bovine genetics that will enable this whole process to be restored and prosper. The Devon breed dates back to the pre-13th century, is one of the purest breeds still in existence and is recognized for it’s adaptability, easy fleshing, mild temperament, and ability to convert forages into tender, flavorful meat.

The existing Devon cattle registries are collections of data that are primarily focused on the philosophy of EPDs and promoting genetics that are production oriented for the commodity market. The existing registries offer pedigrees but no true standardization protocol.

NADA is an alternative to what cattle producers have become accustomed to in recent years. We recognize only the purest of Devon genetics and therefore cannot offer a breeding-up program. We represent a standard of using superior paternal sires to create the genetics that will thrive on a grass/forage diet. We believe in education and teaching our members the art of selection. Selecting the best animals and only breeding the best to the best is what is required to produce quality gourmet beef.

Consumers are hungry and willing to pay for quality grass fed beef. Beef producers are frustrated by today’s commodity market controls and anxious for a better way. NADA is ready, willing, and able to meet both the need and the demand.
