Minto herd
DON AND HEATHER MINTO’S WILDE MINT HERD
In 2003 Don and Heather purchased three heifers, all sired by Lakota’s L44 (ADCA S22265 and NADA0491), from Tom Wilde’s farm. The following year they purchased the remainder of the herd. There were seven cows with five calves at side and the bull . The cows were arbitrarily assigned names and numbers and it was not until a few years later that they were sorted out and placed in the proper order. Until then they were only DNA profiled to be sure that a heifer calf was indeed the daughter of the dam and could be considered for the Recovery Registry. Last year they were finally put in order and the families came together as follows.

Kilcoyne herd
Patrick Kilcoyne has a farm in Brasher Falls, New York. His main endeavor is a commercial herd but he became interested in Devon when he saw what a Devon bull could bring to his herd. With Ridge’s guidance he chose six purebred but not papered cows that had come from farms in New England and bred them to purebred Devon bulls. He now has two lines with three generations established and waiting for Ridge’s approval to enter the NADA registry.

Garrod herd
Luke Garrod lives in California and calls his operation Lucky Luke Cattle. He was lucky enough to meet Robin Rouse and acquire some of her Devon cows. Like many she had let their registrations lapse. Luke spoke to both me and to Ridge about the possibility of putting his animals into the Recovery Registry. The pictures he sent were approved by Gearld.
