A consignment from the farm that had the top-selling cow at Select Sale – 2007. This cow is a 688 daughter and has the famed Holbrook and Buckeye genetics in her pedigree. The heifer calf at her side was born in July and Mike Scannell has named her Lady Bug. She’s a 93 daughter and the result of the close breeding Mike is noted for.

Lakota Ranch M181 cow DOB: 9/01/2002 NADA #0636

Lakota’s Jeremy Engh calls this cow “The Prom Queen”, the kind you put on your business card and in all your advertising. She sells bred to Full Moon Farm Gearld (how can you go wrong?), which is a full Rotokawa bull. NADA executive secretary Kim Miller bought a full sister to launch his Devon herd.

Lakota Ranch M20 cow/calf DOB: 2/25/2002 NADA #612

The cow was sired by one of Lakota’s all-time greats, H48. She’s a typical H48 daughter. In a word: superb! M20 is in the encyclopedia under “maternal”. And her heifer calf, out of Lakota’s new champion bull Buckeye P60, is what Jeremy calls meat-ternal”. T200 is 5 months old and mom is safe in calf and again to P60.

Lakota Ranch P10 cow DOB: 3/2/2004 NADA #611

P10 is the 1100 lb. cow everyone is looking for. She is both wide and deep and like her 16 year old mother who is still holding her place in the Lakota herd, she keeps her flesh all year long. If you’re looking for a cow to start or improve a herd, look now farther. P10 is safe in calf to Buckeye P60 and Jeremy has complete data on all his consignments from ultra-sound to linear measurement.

Spas SPA Q01 cow DOB: 6/08/2005 NADA #0441

This is one of two cows consigned to the sale by Paul Spas of Ashville, NY. Paul calls her Maggie and if you recognize the quality it’s because she’s a daughter of the famed Rotokawa 688. Plenty of good genetics on the other side as well: Vista Knoll, Lakota, Devonshire.

THF S40 heifer DOB: 1/12/2007 NADA #528

When drought struck western Tennessee again this year, NADA convinced breeder Bill Roberts he needed to part with several top young females. S40 and her sisters were brought to Virginia just to wait for this sale. Her full sister was Robert’s top-selling heifer last year. Mom is well-muscled with an excellent udder, as you would expect with Rotokawa in her blood line.

THF S10      heifer     DOB: 01/02/2007  NADA #527

The second of the heifers purchased by Thistle Hill Farm with the Select Sale in mind.  Most of her sire’s side is packed with Rotokawa genetics but mom is from the Devonshire Farm.  S10 is extremely refined in her bone and femininity, which translates into tender meat.  Sire and dam have excellent dispositions that will make S10 easy to live with.

Full Moon Farm S311 heifer DOB: 5/11/2007 NADA #613

Breeder Paul Colucci of Gardiner, NY has consigned two fine heifers to the sale. S311 is just about ready to breed so you’ll have a decision to make soon. The sire’s side is all Lakota…the dam comes from the Trantham herd in North Carolina.

Full Moon Farm S 302 heifer DOB: 4/26/2007 NADA # 614

S 302 is another heifer that is about to come into her own. She, too, was bred at Lenoir’s Creek Farm in North Carolina by Charlie Trantham. Like her pasture mate, this is one you’ll want to consider adding to your herd.

Devon Lane M3 cow/calf DOB: 3/3/2002 NADA #637

Brothers Tom and Will Shattuck of Belchertown, MA have consigned four cow/calf entries, one better than the next. We’ll just take them in numerical order. There’s Buckeye and Noyl Boy on the sire’s side…and even some Potheridge President coming down through the dam. She’s open and in her prime. Certainly a candidate for flushing.

The heifer calf is outstanding, too, even though at this writing we’re not sure whether she’s by the Shattuck herd bull or a Potheridge President son. Either way, you won’t find much better and we’ll have the sire pinned down by sale day.

Devon Lane M5 cow/calf DOB: 3/14/2002 NADA #639

The same story: another outstanding cow with a heifer calf at her side. She, too, has the same genetics and is open for you to choose the next bull. The Shattuck brothers quietly turn out winner after winner and we appreciate the animals they’ve consigned to this year’s Select Sale.

Devon Lane J11 cow/calf DOB: 8/23/1999 NADA #638

Still another beautiful cow from the Shattucks….and still another heifer by her side. This one’s sire came from Lakota Ranch and he bred one of Devon Lane’s foundation cows. Her name is Rose Bud…you get to name the heifer. Rose Bud is also open and ready for you to take her in the direction you want to go.

Devon Lane M7 cow/calf DOB: 9/07/2004 NADA #660

The final entry from Devon Lane and another beauty. Her heifer calf is by 7 Pink Minto, born last June but clearly destined for great things. Devon Lane Dusty is open and ready for you to decide her future.

Spas Erin (R13) heifer DOB: 5/30/2006 NADA #442

We go to the Spas Farm for a second open heifer that you can breed as soon as she settles in back home. The sire is loaded with Rotokawa genetics and clearly mom was no slouch either.

Watson Farm’s K05 cow/calf DOB: 4/20/2000 NADA #616

The host farm for this year’s meeting offers a beautiful cow from the famed Grantland herd. “Millicent” was sired by another famous Devon name, “Buckye’s Dalton” and to round out the offering her bull calf was wired by Rotokawa 982. He was born last May. This is a pair you’ll want to consider if you’re in the building phase of your herd.

Watson Farm’s S69 heifer DOB: 6/15/2007 NADA #603

The sire of this young lady is Rotokawa 982 and you’ll want to take a close look at “Delta”. Mom’s side includes such names as Holbrook, Effingham and Lakota. Delta is the first heifer offered from NADA’s Recovery Registry. Basically, that means that three generations of females have been carefully inspected by the Association and she has been certified pure Devon.

Watson Farm’s S88 heifer DOB: 7/31/2007 NADA #557

This is another Recovery Registry graduate from the Minto’s. Elisa definitely has Rotokawa on the sire’s side and the new, but impressive Wilde Mint on the dam’s. NADA guarantees she’s pure Devon on both sides.

Watson Farm’s S 91 heifer DOB: 8/06/2007 NADA #599

This heifer comes from the same flush of a Bakewell cow, which means Rotokawa of course. Adrianna is another of the first of the Recovery Registry cows appearing in a Select Sale. Her pedigree is complete for two generations but only great-grandma on mom’s side can’t be pinned down. Still, we are able to inspect three generations of females to certify S91 is a pure bred.

Folly Farm 37 bred heifer DOB: 2/27/2006 NADA #415

Leading off our bred heifers, is this offering from John Forelle’s Folly Farm. Those who attended last year’s meeting will remember John’s showplace farm in western New York and you’re also sure to remember his impressive herd bull, “Buster”. Well, he’s responsible for this pregnancy and you’ll want to see the results.

Folly Farm 38 bred heifer DOB: 6/26/2006 NADA #416

This heifer is the result of mixing the genetics of Rotokawa, Effingham and Buckeye. She’s beautiful and her calf is bound to be, too. Again, she’s been bred by Folly Farm’s Buster FF50.

Folly Farm 40 bred heifer DOB: 8/22/2006 NADA #418

FF40 rounds out John Forelle’s consignments to this year’s Select Sale. She, too, is certified safe in calf by “Buster”. Again, a package of outstanding genetics. You can’t go wrong with any of these three pasture mates from Folly Farm.

Harrier Fields R3 bred heifer DOB: 4/29/2006

Here’s a young heifer who was just AI-ed to Rotokawa 982. As this sale catalog was posted, there was no confirmation of a pregnancy yet. But you can be sure this will be an outstanding animal; that’s what breeder Mike Scannell is known for. His Harrier Fields Farm was host for last year’s annual meeting.

Harrier Fields Spring Flower heifer DOB: 3/31/2007

This young heifer is sure to be an “eye catcher”. She’s a daughter of Rotokawa 982 and mom is all Buckeye on both sides of her pedigree. As the saying goes, this heifer is as good as it gets.

Baker embryo

Here is a chance to purchase a Rotokawa 93 embryo…and an outstanding recip

cow at the same time. The embryo is confirmed and the calf is due in March of next year. The mating on the female side includes Noyl Girl and Grantland Granite, top names in the Devon world.

Folly Farm 47  heifer  DOB 9/08/07  NADA # 422

This yearling heifer is by Rotokawa 688 mated to one of John Forelle's fine cows out of the Lakota herd.  With plenty of time for her to settle in before breeding, this is a heifer that can grow up to be a mainstay of your herd.
