HEAD masculine, forehead wide between eyes & poll. Wide at bridge of nose and across nose & muzzle, large nostrils & open, wide mouth. Eyes lively & alert. Muzzle broad & masculine shaped. Nose & eyes tan with no blue or black. Ears medium size to small and pointed. Jaws well set, clean & smooth adjoining front of neck. Cheeks full & broad at root of tongue.

NECK shorter than half the body length, very muscular with large crest by 14 months smoothly attached at front of shoulders. Dewlap well formed extending from back of chin to mid brisket.

SHOULDERS very wide at widest points & very wide across top. Smooth from front of body to shoulders at all points and no concave (dip) from top of shoulder blades to loin muscle. Front of rib cage wide enough to smoothly attach to shoulders. No dips from body to shoulder blades on the side. Shoulders must be wide at 12 months for extreme masculinity and genetic improvement.

CHEST deep and broad between front legs. Bottom of chest extends to top of bend on knee of front leg. Full & wide brisket between front legs.

RIBS well sprung. Covered with flesh. No bones showing through skin.

BACK straight, flat & level with slight rounding from shoulders to pins. Loin broad & full from front of rump to back of shoulders. Hooks not visible or exposed up, Rounded & well blended and covered with muscling. Rump height and length of back should equal.

RUMP well balanced with body, full of muscling and wide & deep.

TAIL & attachment down level with back between wide pins, tail attached so anus is vertical with back of rump. Thick lustrous & bushy switch reaching well below hocks.

ROUNDS, THIGHS & GASKIN deep, wide & full extending down to top of hocks & leaving hocks clean & with large protruding gaskin muscle.

UNDERLINE parallel with top. No concave from back of brisket to front of chest, this area should be flat.

FORELEGS straight from shoulder to ground with feet meeting the ground squarely, exiting the shoulders with large muscles rapping upper part of fore arm, feet straight with no splay and wide between legs. Front legs should be a straight line from bottom of blade to the foot. Cannon bone should be small in circumference at the smallest point. Knee should be clean & smooth.

HIND LEGS & HOCKS. Legs straight to the feet & squarely placed to outside of body when view from behind, not to cross or sweep when walking. Small flat bone from hock to top of foot. Hocks clean & not full of connective tissue or fat. Feet not overgrown, straight forward stepping in front track with foot meeting ground squarely.

SKIN thick, very soft and pliable, easily moves on most of the body when twitched for insects. Covered with a short thick shinny rich red hair coat. A little white in front of purse is admissible, but not on any other part of the limb or body.

GENERAL APPEARANCE, Showing typical Devon characteristics, good growth on grass, deep bodied, not long but well balanced. Rump height and length of back should equal. Very docile and smart on parade.
TESTICLES 36-40 centimeters at 12 months. Tear-drop shape with epididymis on inside bottom.
